Sig Sauer Whiskey3 3-9x40mm Scope

If you’re familiar with the high quality of SIG SAUER’s firearms, you won’t be surprised by the quality of their new line of optics. The SIG SAUER Electro-Optics line includes riflescopes, binoculars, rangefinders, spotting scopes and a variety of rifle and pistol sights. But let’s talk about their riflescopes, specifically the Whiskey3 3-9x40, a versatile and popular scope designed for traditional hunting rifles as well as AR-style modern sporting rifles.

“Whiskey” comes from SIG SAUER’s use of the military phonetic alphabet in naming product lines. The Whiskey designation refers to hunting riflescopes; Tango, tactical riflescopes; Kilo, rangefinders; Zulu, binoculars and so on.

With Whiskey3 riflescopes, SIG SAUER has combined high-definition glass and military-inspired design to provide hunters with maximum clarity, accuracy and reliable performance. Built to be rugged and durable, this scope is designed inside and out to withstand the elements and the demands of hunting. They’ve added Lensarmor, an abrasion-resistant lens coating to ensure lenses stay sharp and clear, and Spectracoat, an ultra-wide broadband, anti-reflection lens coating that reduces surface reflections and provides superior light transmission.

And, with the 3- to 9-power magnification range, you can quickly and easily adjust for short-, medium- and long-range shooting.

Perhaps the coolest feature among many cool features, the Whiskey3 comes with a SIG Ballistic Turret (SBT), a custom laser-etched elevation dial that allows you to quickly correct for bullet-drop compensation and pinpoint accuracy at any range. You send them information on your chosen ammunition, such as bullet specifications, ballistic coefficient, muzzle velocity as well as environmental conditions and other factors, and they send you a dial calibrated to your caliber and ballistics choice. With SBT you can dial in exact ranges and hold the reticle directly on your target, rather than the less accurate, less reliable method of holding off target to compensate for long distances. For example, if you’ve ranged your target at 300 yards, you simply adjust the dial to “3” and you can hold right on the mark.

Speaking of reticles, there are a choice of four: Triplex, Quadplex and illuminated versions, HellFire Triplex and HellFire Quadplex with a bright red dot that helps you zero in on the target. And, there’s an easy-to-see fiber-optic power indicator, so you can readily see your magnification setting even in low-light situations, and a fast-focus eyepiece that lets you dial in a clear sight picture quickly.

And to give you peace of mind about your purchase, the Whiskey3 comes with SIG SAUER’s Infinite Guarantee, which is an unlimited lifetime guarantee that is fully transferable and does not require a warranty card or receipt, so you don’t have to worry about finding those years down the road. And by “Infinite,” they mean no time limit. And there is no charge. There is one exception: electronic components are covered by a limited five-year warranty.

With Whiskey3 riflescopes, SIG SAUER’s goal is to make your first shot count, or, as they say, let the first shot be the only shot needed. That is a worthy goal for all hunters.
